Poultry Farm Extension Permit Application APPROVED by Golden Plains Shire

A free range egg producer in Maude, within the Golden Plains Shire, engaged our team to assist with a proposed expansion of their rural operation. The project required careful navigation of the Victorian planning system, where rural-based agricultural intensification often involves multiple planning considerations and referral requirements.
In this case, the proposal sought to expand existing egg production facilities, which triggered the need for a planning permit under the relevant provisions of the planning scheme. Rural applications of this nature are typically assessed against a range of factors including land use compatibility, animal husbandry impacts, traffic and access, environmental considerations, and potential amenity effects on surrounding properties.
Our role involved a staged planning approach, beginning with a detailed assessment of the planning constraints affecting the site. This informed the preparation of a structured planning permit application, supported by relevant technical input and coordinated documentation.
Throughout the process, we managed ongoing engagement with Golden Plains Shire Council, responding to requests and guiding the application through assessment. Rural applications can often be complex and iterative; however, a clear and well-prepared submission helps reduce delays and improve certainty of outcome.
The application was ultimately supported, allowing the expansion to proceed in line with the client’s operational goals.
